Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@telosccs.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Classical education is another term for Liberal Arts, which comes from a 2,400 year tradition of teaching students how to think, and not just what to think, with an emphasis on virtue and wisdom. It is precisely this kind of education that has produced countless leaders, inventors, artists, and theologians throughout history.

Classical education through the Liberal Arts goes well beyond our commonplace understanding of a basic college degree. It is foundational to the way God designed us to learn. The Trivium (three paths) and the Quadrivium (four paths) comprise the foundation of all learning, with the Trivium focusing on the art (skill) of words and the Quadrivium the art (skill) of numbers. An individual who has mastery of words and mastery of numbers truly lays a foundation for lifelong learning. This became increasingly valuable to early Christians who found in Jesus the ultimate expression of truth, goodness, and beauty.

Many of our students do not have a background in classical education before enrolling. We use academic testing and family interviews to assess a student’s learning level and ensure they are placed in the most fitting classes. Furthermore, students are supported with training and instruction in foundational skills and knowledge. Those students who enthusiastically desire to learn and grow and have supportive family settings to help them navigate this new experience are those who find the most success.

 Crosby, Texas

 Preschool - 10th grade

 Monday-Thursday, 8:10-3:45

Tuition varies by age, from $4,000 for our three year olds Preschool students to $6,000 for our school-aged students. Other fees also vary by age. Please see our Tuition and Fees schedule for the full list.

Our three year olds class dismisses at 2:15 each day, otherwise all students are Monday-Thursday from 8:10-3:45. Telos does not offer part time or alternative plans at this time.

Learning cohorts are small, multi-age groups of students who progress together based on skill, mastery, and developmental readiness, rather than the traditional age-graded system. Learn more about learning cohorts.

With our compact and integrated curriculum, we can provide a robust education in a shorter time span than standard schools. This then allows students the freedom of an extra day away from school, connecting with family, pursuing enrichment activities, or investing in school projects (students, especially in Upper School, will have homework to complete each week, and some choose to use their Fridays to accomplish much of that). A shorter school week also has an economic advantage for families.

Accreditation takes time for new schools to achieve. We do however provide transcripts which meet all the criteria for college entrance. We are currently working with Concordis Education Partners to meet all standards and best practices, and are pursuing Accreditation through the ACCS in the next few years.

Yes. We operate as a non-profit 501c3 organization under the governance of FBC Crosby and our Board of Directors.

We do not want tuition costs to be the reason that your child cannot attend Telos CCS, therefore we fundraise to provide a financial aid fund, based on financial need. We use Benefaq as our financial aid processor to determine financial need. If you are interested in applying for tuition assistance, please email jill.lee@fbccrosby.org or slamb@fbccrosby.org .

There are many benefits. Like any uniform, school uniforms are a visual reminder of a common purpose (in this case, to learn). Uniforms remove unnecessary distractions that typically divide students (e.g., socio-economic status, name brands, preferences) and promote a common identity. While clothing is often associated as a means of self-expression, uniforms remind students that their primary expression comes from their character and choices as image-bearers of God.

Latin is one of the most structured and ordered languages, making it an excellent tool for mastering grammar while fostering a deeper appreciation for language. As the root of the Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian), it provides a strong foundation for learning other languages. Latin was also the language of Rome during the time of Jesus, offering a unique window into the historical and cultural context of that era. Moreover, a wealth of Christian texts were originally written in Latin, granting access to a rich legacy of theological and historical works.

Practically speaking, studying Latin provides a better grasp of English (e.g., about 80% of English vocabulary is borrowed, mainly from Latin), and is also the basis for much of the vocabulary in professional careers like law and medicine.

Telos CCS uses a variety of curricula. We would be happy to go through each one for your child’s class with you. In addition to this, we firmly believe that the teacher is the text. By this we mean that the teacher himself or herself carries the great responsibility of discipling students in a Biblical worldview. This is always done in partnership with, and under the authority of the parents.

It is the firmly held belief of Telos CCS that joining one’s life in a meaningful way to a local, Bible-believing body of believers is a natural outgrowth of a healthy relationship with the Lord. Therefore, as a covenantal school, we do require that at least one parent from each of our families is a committed follower of Jesus Christ who is an active member of a Bible-believing and preaching church. It is not required that families attend FBC Crosby, or even a Baptist church, necessarily. It is vital that parents do their research to ascertain whether the theology taught at Telos is in line with their beliefs, as they will answer to the Lord for the way they have educated their children, and the worldview that they have instilled in them. Interested parents can listen to the sermons and teachings of FBC Crosby, and read Telos’s statement of beliefs, as well as the London Baptist Confession of 1689 and its catechism to help gain an understanding of our theological position. We would love to speak further about this with any interested families.

While God has not gifted each child identically, He values each child equally. We seek to imitate God’s regard for children, and we aspire to serve all children who desire the education that we offer. We recognize that, in some cases, a student may need academic and relational accommodations, and we provide those accommodations on a case-by-case basis.

No, Telos does not provide or sell daily snacks or lunches at this time. Parents supply a snack and a lunch for their child each day.

Yes, our students receive P.E. class, Art, and Music once a week each. Grammar students also attend Motor Lab, and upper Grammar and Upper School students attend Latin class two to four days a week, depending on their grammar level.

We do not require our teachers to be “certified” by the state of Texas. The Classical Christian method is a very different philosophy from the more common modern view of education. We train our teachers in the Classical Christian methods through books, videos, and live observations and lessons at other Classical Christian schools, as well as conferences through the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS at classicalchristian.org).
